So what has Nerine Tassie been up to since winning Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2015? I was lucky enough to quickly catch-up with her.
Interview with Artist Nerine Tassie
1. What have you been up to since winning Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2015?
I’ve been so busy painting since the competition finished so it’s really great to have the opportunity to keep building momentum with my work. I have been working on a lot of commission pieces and have also just finished a body of work for the AAF (Affordable Arts Fair) in Battersea for March.
2. What’s your favourite painting to date and why?
Probably my favourite painting would either be my submission for Sky Arts Landscape Artist or the commission of Flatford. My submission piece signalled a development in my own practice so was very important to me and the commission of Flatford was just a really enjoyable piece to create.
3. What’s coming up next for you?
I have my first solo show later this year and will also be an invited artist at the Pittenweem Arts Festival so I’m the looking forward to both of these exhibitions! I’ll be kept very busy with painting!
Exciting times for Nerine; it must be an amazing feeling to have so much momentum behind you which allows you to paint and take part in exhibitions.
Her style is so unique, I don’t get bored of looking at her paintings, I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!
