Porth Newquay Painting

Buy Cornwall Art – Original Contemporary Cornish Landscape Painting by Cornish Artist Diane Griffiths

A bright painting on canvas with a sun drenched cliffs looking along the Newquay coastline from Lusty Glaze over towards Porth, Trevelgue Head across to Watergate and beyond. It provides a contemporary impressionistic painting of the Newquay coastline.

You can see how the dramatic energy of the Cornish coastline has been created by the profound power of the sea, crafting its own art out of the cliffs. The saturated orange and red colours don’t last long as hues change in the evening light. It’s a glimpse at a moment in time before we lose the light of the day.

Work in Progress

Here is my painting before I start adding more of the orange and yellow colours to it – looks quite different here!

Porth and Newquay Art

Here I’m adding some slightly dark shades to the sea using a medium size brush, just pulling a thin layer of paint across the canvas.

I’m looking to see where I need to put highlights on the cliff by making note of the direction of the light.

Porth and Newquay Art

I’m right at the end of my painting, I’m adding in a juicy red and orange mix to finish off the cliff highlights. What I really like about this angle (apart from the fact it shows up my damaged brush) is that you can see the texture of the cliffs as they ripple through the painting.
