Original Contemporary Wildlife Portrait Painting by Diane Griffiths.
Acrylic on 1.5″ box canvas with painted sides, 58x42cm/23×16.5″ (2015).
After I painted ‘The Tracker’ I had a huge desire to paint and capture the detail of different types of fur. I had a zoomed in photo of an Alpaca from London Zoo and it inspired me to paint ‘Alpaca’. I had lots of fun with this piece; building up the layers, focusing on the wavy patterns, subtle differences in colour and slightly cheeky expression on his face.
Work in Progress
I started blocked in his face and then designed the key areas of the hair direction, slowing building up the layers.
