I love the dynamic angle of the horizon line, and the watery brushstrokes which obscure it even more. In fact, everything in this painting is a rush—it’s intense, wild, and beautiful, all at the same time. . . exactly what art should be.

St Michael’s Mount is a unique island castle found in the south west corner of Cornwall near Penzance. It stands majestically on the top of a rocky isle with a dramatic causeway taking you to the entrance when the tide allows. There is a vibrant dance of colour in this painting as the ever changing tide alters your view. As the tide splashes over the causeway we notice new lines emanating out from the mount, drawing us into the painting and up the causeway. It’s not a peaceful scene despite the pink tinge to the sky, but one which demands exploration.
