Original Contemporary Cornish Landscape Painting by Cornish Artist Diane Griffiths.
Acrylic and enamel on Gerstaecker cotton canvas with painted sides, 50x50cm/20×20″ (2017).
Nanjizal (or Mill Bay) is situated a mile to the south-east of Land’s End, it has no direct access via road which makes is a unique escape for the South West coastal path walker. Nanjizal beach is covered in large pebbles rather than the glorious sand that you see on most beaches in Cornwall. This painting was inspired by a circular walk from Land’s End – it’s an interesting path, which affords breath-taking views out to sea and back over the countryside, with the treat of Nanjizal beach halfway through. It wasn’t a sunny day, but the clouds moved quickly across the sky with ever-changing light dashing across the cliffs.
I use Gerstaecker Stretched Canvases 100% cotton; 380gsm, with no side tacking and are primed with a semi-absorbent universal primer. Daler Rowney Acrylic System 3 original acrylic paint are the acrylics of my choice; I use a mixture of acrylic and enamel paints in my artwork.
