Cornish Hand Painted Gifts - Small, Affordable and Memorable
Share
It can be tricky to get your artwork out into the world. Original art is valuable (I’m talking blood, sweat and tears valuable!) and therefore, there is no way to sugar coat it, it’s a luxury item. I aim to keep my art affordable, but I also like to diversify and spread my art in other ways.
I have a handful of items which firmly land in what I call the souvenir bucket - something small, affordable and memorable:
Painted in a colourful beachscape style, with a beach to sea graduation, painted in acrylic and oil. I really like using the oil because it gives a 3D texture and juicy pigments, which are delicious, (oil is quite delicious although it smells horrible and is impossible to get out of your clothes). The item is then finished with surfers providing little colour surfboard highlights. Finally I use iridescent glitter to add a bit of sparkle and seal with a gloss varnish to protect the paint. I use black to finish off the sides and back, the bookmarks even have a black velvet backing for a luxury feel.
