Cornish art by British contemporary artist Diane Griffiths. One of Newquay’s many beaches, Towan Beach, is a single large rock. This might sound unassuming on its own, but this is actually a 80-foot high inhabited rock. It has a 3 bedroom house, built in the 1930s, and operates as a holiday let for those seeking a private island getaway in the UK. You can only access the island by a footbridge so no need for a doorbell! It’s a very unique and iconic part of Newquay. In this painting the tide is going out and the beach is quite busy. The steps down to Towan beach lead your eye from the right-hand side down into the painting and then you move up to The Island, the harbour and Towan headland on the horizon. It’s a sunny day and I’m keen to go down those steps and get onto the beach!

This was the photo I used as part of my inspiration for this painting. You can see I've changed the perspective slightly moving the harbour and Towan headland a little to give that headland a bit more space on the canvas.
