Banksy in Bristol

I had a lovely extended weekend with my dad in Bristol last weekend. As part of that we went on the hunt for Banksy . As an artist constantly struggling for exposure and looking for ways to get my name out there, I can't help but be intrigued by an artist so well known.

I enjoyed 'The Girl with the Pierced Eardrum' with the obvious nod to another famous artwork. We also saw 'Well Hung Lover' (on the side of a health clinic), the quote 'You don't need planning permission to build castles in the sky' and the last one curiously inside the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery 'Paint-Pot Angel'.

Food for thought, as an artist we have freedom and responsibility to say something with our art. Surprisingly I feel inspired (I wasn't expecting to) but developing my artistic voice is definitely helped by exposure to lots of different artworks and artists. That process of converting my wobbly thoughts into meaningful statements or questions. To layer my artwork with paint AND ideas. That's worth taking some time to ponder...Time to write something...
